Zara’s parents dedicated by her parents to a temple god at the age of ten. Her parents saw it as a way to remove the burden of caring for another girl and profited from her exploitation. Zara was expected to perform sex work in the name of religion and was miserable. As she grew older, she went to work in the red light district. Life there was exceedingly difficult.  She suffered through much abuse.  Zara felt like men used her and then threw her away. When Zara turned forty, she found out that she was HIV positive.  As her disease progressed, she began to worry about her eternal future.  Zara’s temple God had abandoned her.

One day, Zara met a man from our ministry. He shared the wonderful story of Jesus coming to save the lost.  Zara couldn’t believe that Jesus loved her enough to die for her sins. Joyfully, she accepted Christ. To care for Zara, our team helped her set up a small business.  We also helped her apply for a government program to help take care of her medical needs.  Today, Zara is happy and has a reason for living.
